Topic #1:

LAW OFFICE & CASE PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

RACHEL EDWARDS: Professional Liability Fund Practice Management Advisor.

Ms. Edwards joined the Professional Liability Fund in 2016, and was previously in private practice for four years. In her role as a practice management advisor for the PLF, Ms. Edwards provides practice management assistance to Oregon attorneys to reduce their risk of malpractice claims and enhance their enjoyment of practicing law. Law firms, especially solo and small firms, unfortunately have become a target for cyber criminals because of the confidential data often stored by firms such as bank statements and social security numbers. Learning how to create and implement proper security protocol can aid in becoming part of that statistic.

Topic #2:

LEGAL ETHICS UPDATES & BEST PRACTICES

TOM KRAMER: Attorney, Bullard Law.

Mr. Kramer has been an attorney in private practice in Oregon for the past 35 years, practicing primarily in the area of employee benefits law. For the past five years, Mr. Kramer has served as internal General Counsel at Bullard Law, a management-side labor and employment law firm in Portland. In that role, Mr. Kramer, with help from colleagues and outside counsel, addresses ethics issues arising under the Oregon Rules of Professional Conduct. This session will attempt to provide an overview of ethical issues you and your attorneys may face and offer suggestions and resources you might use to address those issues.
